Bharathi Mukherjee narrates modern woman who was rebellious, however she adapted to all tradition and therefore she leads her life audaciously. Her novel Wife is a unique work by exploring into heroine’s psyche. Dimple, the protagonist set an example of whole class of women in India. She was
ill- treated by her husband like an inanimate object and subsequently lost her identity. She was afraid of change, because egos cannot control change.
