Abstract

At all times, Silappathikaram (Silappu) stands as a living literary work that brings pride to Tamil culture. As a highly accomplished epic, it has left a profound impact on cultural domains, which continues to be evident through its strong influence over generations. Research and studies centered on Silappu are ongoing, and the epic itself contains a wealth of rare and valuable insights within its core. Over time, scholars have explored these aspects, making the text a rich source for study.

This epic continues to serve as a model for life, maintaining deep roots among the people. Based on this work, many literary creations featuring Kannagi have emerged in Tamil Nadu and across Tamil-speaking regions in Sri Lanka, demonstrating its enduring influence. This study focuses on the humanitarian values depicted in the epic, particularly as reflected in the lives of Kannagi, Kovalan, and Madhavi.
