Abstract

In Tamil technical terminology, particularly in India, we have experienced nearly two centuries of colonial domination under the British. As a result, English gradually became the link language across India, serving as the medium of education and communication. Whether we like it or not, acquiring knowledge across various disciplines has largely depended on English. It is not possible to completely discard English, as it is necessary for transforming Indian languages into scientific and technical terminology. Moreover, English remains essential for disseminating Tamil scientific and technological ideas and inventions to the global community. As new discoveries continue to emerge primarily in English, it becomes imperative for those in India to translate and present these findings and research into their native languages. The success of this endeavor largely depends on the development and expansion of Tamil technical terminology.
