ஆற்றுப்படையில் உணவுசார் புழங்குபொருள்
Abstract
This study examines the food-related utilitarian objects found in Aatrupadai literature. Utilitarian objects play a vital role in human life, reflecting cultural practices and daily activities. In Sangam literature, these objects are closely connected to lifestyle and traditions. The Aatrupadai texts mention several food-related utilitarian objects such as Kuzhisi (cooking pot), Mida, Thasumbu, Saadi, Akal, Ural (mortar), Ulakkai (pestle), and Mathu (churning stick). These objects were extensively used for cooking, storing, and processing food. Through the study of these materials, we gain insights into the food habits, technological knowledge, and cultural practices of the ancient Tamil people. This research highlights how material culture is deeply embedded in literary sources and reflects the socio-cultural life of the Sangam age.
