Abstract

Psychology deals with the study of human mind, behavior, and emotions. In literature, psychological elements are reflected through the experiences, emotions, and inner thoughts of individuals. Sangam literature, especially the poems composed by women poets, presents deep psychological insights into human life. These poems portray various emotional states such as love, sorrow, separation, conflict, and social relationships. This paper attempts to analyze the psychological perspectives found in Sangam women poets’ poems by focusing on aspects like mind, emotion, conflict, recognition, personality, and social behavior. It highlights how women poets expressed their personal experiences and societal realities through poetic imagination, thereby contributing significantly to psychological understanding in classical Tamil literature.
