Abstract
Virtue (Aram) is the foremost and fundamental quality that every human must uphold. It encompasses love, compassion, and justice. For instance, the act of King Manu Neethi, who placed his own son on a hot platform to punish a calf’s death caused by the child, exemplifies virtue. Similarly, the noble deeds of figures like the king who gave his chariot to a flowering jasmine tree, or the guardian who sacrificed his own leg to save a bird from harm, are acts of virtue. In essence, virtue is the practice of treating all living beings as one would treat oneself. It is a basic principle that humans must observe for the welfare of all creatures. Virtue originates from the human heart, and its importance must be instilled in young minds through structured education in schools and universities. Virtue is not only to be taught and learned; it must also be practiced diligently. Therefore, it should be cultivated consistently in society beyond the confines of the home, influencing communities at large. Cultural values serve as the conduit that carries virtue forward to future generations.
