Abstract

Through the Sangam literature, the citizens knew the technique of strengthening the body and thereby balancing the mind. All the games played by the people during the Sangam period are still in existence today. Games are used for mental strength, physical strength, entertainment and happiness. From children to adults, they have chosen games according to their preferences and have been playing them happily. In that regard, the purpose of this article is to identify evidence of games such as vattadal, kazhangadtal, kilikiliadal, and oonjaladtal from the eight-volume works such as Natrinai, Aingurunuru, Paripadal, Akananur, Purananur and Patuppattu from the eight-volume works and Porunaratrupada, Sirupanatrupada, and Perumpanatrupada.
