Abstract

Teaching and learning English is, at its richest, an energizing, determined and inventively vital experience for all involved, developing youngsters’ competence, confidence and creativity as well as building positive attitudes towards learning. At its poorest, English teaching and learning can be a dry, teaching experience, focused on the instruction of computable skills, and paying little attention to children’s affective or creative development as language learners and language users. Learning can be made effective and heartening by using digital technology like multimedia and internet. The capacity of young people to respond flexibly to new technologies as they appear is commendable. The teachers should consider their own experiences and attitudes towards multimedia and internet and also find ways to teach creatively. Use of digital technology makes the language teaching and learning livelier, creative and interesting. Digital technology has great collision on screen texts – computer games, the internet, television and films. This paper focuses on how films can be used to improve and enhance the learning experience. Films are ideal vehicles for involving all pupils, everyone viewing together, generating curiosity, problem solving and group effort as they make sense of what they see together and individually. Teachers can get a perfect  pportunity to adopt a more flexible and creative approach towards language, elucidation and meaning by using selected films in their classroom. Introduction: In teaching and learning process, technology has mediate and transformed the whole quality of education. It is extremely efficient learning and teaching environment. Due to the arrival of advanced technology, different techniques and methodologies were adopted to face the multi-needs of the learners. Digitalization influences considerably on both the way of teaching and the content delivery. ELT started its ride from conventional method and now has acquired the most vibrant phase of its evolution strategies where ICT is leading to a standard shift in the method of learning and teaching. ICT render abundant opportunities for practicing in and out of the classroom. Teacher is expected to be conventional and innovative as well in his/her  teaching/learning situation. The appropriate use of these tools has completely reshaped ELT. Therefore, education becomes wider accessible and reasonable. 2. Benefits of using ICT tools in ELT: ICT provides positive vibrations on students’ mind-set towards learning a language. Students can have an excellent chance to pick out the elements through which they can meet their learning strategies, which were failed to satisfy by the predictable methods. The availability of sources like images, animations, audio and video clips is very simulating because they support the learners in presenting and practicing a language in a different way. 2 ICT and its role in English Language Teaching Classrooms Not only for the students but also the teachers depend more on these tools to produce, prepare, store and retrieve the materials of learning at ease. ICT provides authenticity by which the learner could interact with others all over the world.
