Abstract

The environment forms the fundamental support system for all living beings on Earth. Tamil literature highlights the importance of natural resources and emphasizes principles of environmental stewardship. Tamils of the Sangam period lived in close harmony with nature, demonstrating a lifestyle that respected and preserved the natural world. Literary works from this era reflect their careful cultivation of plants and trees, showcasing an early understanding of ecological balance and the need to sustain and renew the environment for future generations.
