Rasikamani T.K.C.’s Contribution to Tamil Music

Abstract

Among the three Tamils, namely, literature, music and drama, musical Tamil is the foremost. Classical Tamil music is the oldest musical heritage of the Tamils. Music books reveal that such Tamil music has been in use since before the Sangam period. During the time when foreigners ruled Tamil Nadu, Tamil music had declined. In this situation, many people worked for the revival of Tamil music. One of them, Rasikamani D.K. Chidambaranatha Mudaliar, has done various works to establish Tamil music on a stable footing. This article aims to highlight his artistic work, knowledge of music, passion for music and contribution to Tamil music.
