This study introduces how our ancestors, the Tamils, applied mathematical concepts in their daily lives. Terms such as Ondru (1), Mukkal (3), Araikkal (Half period), Kaal (Time), Naal (Day), Moosam (Season), Moosum Aaraikkal (One and a half season), Irumoom (Two months), Magaan (Three months), Orumoo (One month), Mukkal Veesam (Three parts), Mukkaan (Three months), Araiveesam (Half part), Araimoo (Half month), Kaalveesam (Time fraction), Kaanish (Observation), Muththiri (Pine), Keelamuththiri (Lower pine), Mummoo (Triple), Arai (Half), Gunam (Quality), Pandham (Bond), Paavam (Emotion), Vindam (Measurement), Naaga vindam (Snake measurement), Sindhai (Thought), Kathir (Ray), and more appear in Tamil literary texts. Understanding and clarifying these mathematical terms and concepts constitutes the essence of this study.
