Abstract

Today, Tamil Nadu is ahead of other states in India in terms of export and import in the commercial sector. The ports of Tamil Nadu are excellent in terms of competing with other leading countries in the world. Not only today, but almost since the Sangam period, the ports of Tamil Nadu have been operating day and night. The economy and trade of the Sangam people were a civilization based on a rural environment. Pattinapalai proves this. It discusses in detail the commercial excellence of Kaveri poompattinam, the capital of the chola country during the Sangam period, and the domestic and foreign export and import trades that took place there. The honest middle position of the merchants, their moral life, wealth and methods of preserving wealth are highlighted in this study
