Abstract

Every poem fundamentally possesses a narrative quality. Narratology is the scientific study of how such poems are structured and how the structure conveys the story the poem seeks to tell. By analyzing the language, dynamics, and subtle nuances of a poem, narratology enables deep dialogue and multifaceted interpretation of literary works. This article specifically examines the statements about women—particularly the psychology of a widow—presented in Sangam literature, analyzing them from a narratological perspective to highlight how these depictions are conveyed and understood.
